by Trevor McPherson on Thursday, July 9th, 2009

In partnership with Hewlett Packard Canada, the Ontario Economic Summit is pleased to present the first episode of the OES Talks Podcast.  Our podcasts will focus on timely issues of importance to the provincial economy and will help to provide additional context to our annual Summit dialogue.  We think it’s the logical next step in the evolution of the Ontario Economic Summit initiative and hope that you will agree!

In our pilot episode, we speak with Maryscott (Scotty) Greenwood of the Canadian American Business Council (CABC) about the Canada-US relationship, including concerns of  growing protectionist sentiments and President Obama’s nomination of a new Ambassador to Canada.

20 – 20 Hindsight on Buy American restrictions, but what’s next?

by Jessica Doan on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

2393911780_c4e41d3503“After signing the North American free-trade agreement, Canada had a golden opportunity to do a deal that would have averted much of today’s frustration and heartache about U.S. Buy American restrictions” writes Barrie McKenna in his Report on Business column called Provinces have only themselves to blame for Buy American Woes.

The article goes on to document mistakes made in the past and place blame on provincial governments.

Everyone has been replaying past mistakes and placing blame but my question is what do we do about it now?
