Larry Prusak is a researcher and consultant and was the founder and Executive Director of the Institute for Knowledge Management (IKM). Larry has had extensive experience within the United States, Canada and internationally, in helping large organizations work with their information and knowledge resources. Previously, Larry was a Principal and founder of Ernst & Young’s Center for Business Innovation and Director of IBM’s Institute for Knowledge Management.

Panelists will explore issues of retaining and developing human capital with a special focus on issues of skilled trades and the recognition of foreign credentials as key factors to fostering the growth of human capital in Ontario.

He serves as a director of several Canadian corporations and institutions and was previously Chairman of Torstar Corporation, Chairman of Alcan Inc. and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Rockefeller Foundation. He is a Companion of the Order of Canada, member of the Order of Ontario, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, (London), Master of the American College of Physicians and Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.

Alan Dukes is Director General of the Institute of European Affairs. Having served as a Cabinet Minister in the Garret FitzGerald and John Bruton governments, Mr. Dukes is perhaps best known for the role that he played as Leader of the Official Opposition in introducing the Tallaght Strategy. This strategy saw the opposition Fine Gael party support unpopular but necessary economic decisions that were needed to bring down the national debt and inject new life into the economy. Mr. Dukes will reflect on this period of change and current factors contributing to economic growth in Ireland, including strategic investments in research and education.
