Welcome to the first Ontario Economic Summit.

Never before in the history of this province has such a diverse group come together with the common purpose of building prosperity for the province of Ontario.

It is that vision that sets this event apart.

We are not here to provide government with a wish list – nor are we here to set priorities for someone else. We are each here in our personal capacity to take up the challenge of creating a more dynamic – more vibrant province for the benefit of all.

It is an ambitious undertaking. However, given that such a diverse group has accepted the challenge, we are optimistic for a successful outcome for the Summit.

Labour, academia, government and business working together can accomplish many things.

This Summit is an opportunity for all of us to tackle the issues by drawing on our experiences, knowledge and imagination to build a better future for Ontario.

It is important that the work of this Summit not end here in Niagara-on-the-Lake, but continue in the coming months as ideas and innovations are implemented.
